DPI (Dots Per Inch)

A resolution unit indicating the number of dots printed per inch (approximately 2.54 cm). A higher dpi value creates a better image quality. For instance, when the dpi is 720, the number of dots printed for a color is 720. However, the amount of dots that can be displayed on a monitor is normally limited to a resolution of only about 72-100 dpi.
